Julie Larson grew up in Lincoln, IL, and got her BS in Architecture from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. She has three children, and lives in Central Illinois.

Julie Larson’s “The Dinette Set” was syndicated in 1997. The original title of the strip was “Surburban Torture”.

The main characters of the strip, Burl and Joy Penny, always have a different way of looking at everyday life. This is one of those comics that you really have to take a close look at, because of all the little “extras” in each daily panel. Plaques on the wall, t-shirt slogans, sayings on coffee mugs all add to the unique style of the strip.
